New to IHS in 2023: Our Busiest Off-Season Yet

Busy off-season in 2023 at IHS

New in 2023

It has been a busy off-season for the team at IHS as we strive to build the best resource in hockey. We hope you enjoy all of the new content and features heading into the season, and know that there is still plenty more to come. Please also be sure to checkout the "Sort By Newest" filter added to the Drills and Coaching Clips pages to stay on top of some of the newest content added to the site throughout the season. Below is our off-season re-cap and some insight into what is to come in the 2023/2024 season.

Categorized Clips

IHS has secured a license, allowing us to enhance our platform with hundreds of coaching clips. These coaching clips will allow our members to find teachable moments that are performed at the games’ highest level and share them with their players. We have also taken the time to tag each clip with related material on IHS so that you can find drills and SAG’s to work on the skills and concepts within the clips. NHL Footage on IHS is Courtesy of The National Hockey League.

IHS Acquires The Global Hockey Network

In August, IHS announced its acquisition of content from The Global Hockey Network. This move will bring in over 400 pieces of content, spanning a range of skill and age levels, with a notable concentration on youth development. There are currently 35 pieces of content on IHS and the rest will be rolled out over the coming year(s).

Season Launch Guides

IHS held a slate of age-specific Season Launch Events available for IHS Members Only. The events were hosted by Topher Scott and Alyssa Gagliardi and were a huge success as they gave tips and advice by covering some amazing topics: Building Culture, Goal Setting, Parent Communication, Skills & Habits and Practice Planning. The recordings are all available on IHS now along with supplemental materials. You can watch all of the event recordings here.

Intro To Body Contact

IHS teamed up with Mark Zarbo to film a Body Contact and Checking Course. The course consists of 5 practice plans and 27 unique drills that help players learn the fundamentals of body contact and checking. Coaches can utilize the course to help their players learn how to give a hit, how to receive a hit, how to angle, how to protect the puck, and more. Most importantly, the course will try to build a players confidence in body contact & checking..
