The focus is on skill development. Let the players do the drills at slower speeds to develop the right technique before increasing the speed. Make sure they know that it is ok to make a mistake and keep encouraging them! Before players hit the ice make sure they are divided into 3 groups. Please mix players up, so A,B, and C players are in the same groups. The idea is on individual skill development not on team development.

- Part 1: Inside edge (both right leg & left leg).
- Part 2: Right leg only (inside edge to outside edge), which is shown in the video above. Then perform this exercise with the left leg only (not shown in video).
- Part 3: Transition from inside edge to outside edge on right leg (shown in the video above). Then perform this exercise with the left leg (not shown in video).
COACHING POINTS:
- Keep body mass low and centered (knee bend and head looking up will help with this).
- Eyes and head should be looking up and forward as you transition from one edge to the next.
- Start slow as you learn the technique. Increase speed as you are comfortable.
Players will lineup along blue line and will switch lines after completeing one side.
This drill can be done slow to get the technique down first as we will be adding pucks in future skills practices. If there are not enough sticks we can use use 3 pucks spaced about 4 feet apart.
This is overspeed and their feet should be moving the entire time.
