This is a defensive drill that simulates a give and go in the d-zone.   A lot of young players have a tendency to follow the puck after it is passed low. The main focus is to have the  defensive player stay defensive side of the offensive player after they move the puck low.   The drill starts with the forward having the puck along the wall.  The defense starts away from the wall inline with the  dots.  On the whistle the defense challenges the forward with a slight angle to force them up the wall.  The forward can hold on to the puck if they think they can beat the defense.  Most of the time they should move the puck low to the coach to simulate a give and go.  Most young players in this situation like to follow the puck.  In this situation the defensive player needs to stay with the forward back to the net instead of follow the puck.
