This is a defensive drill that simulates a give and go in the d-zone. The main focus is to have the defensive player stay defensive side of the offensive player after they move the puck low. The drill starts with the foward skating behind the net with the puck. Once they get to the post then the defensive player needs to engage to prevent the forward from attacking as they come around the netand angle up the wall. The defender should work to angle the forward up the wall and if possible eliminate the forward along the wall to create a turnover. The forward should try to protect the puck. They have the option to move the puck back down low to the coach for a give and go. If they do move the puck low then the defense needs to stay with the foward on the defensive side.

Why not use a player instead of the coach?  Now you've got a skater trying to learn how to do feed the puck into an open area and where the defensemen can't get to it...  Good idea!
