Here is a drill for the younger players that only uses half of the zone. The focus is on controlling the puck through three control turns followed by a shot on net. It requires two nets set up on the goal line in line with the dots. The players line up in the center of the ice along the goal line as show. Both sides can go at the same time. The players skate up to the first cone and do a control turn while protecting the puck around the cone. After the third cone the players go in for a shot on net. To try and get the players as many repetitions as possible have the next player go as the player in front goes around the second cone.
