There's a theory that explains why some sports are more mentally challenging than others. It's called 'point of contact.' This theory states that the more 'point of contact' you have with the ball (or puck, birdie, rock, etc), the easier it is for you to concentrate.

Here's a question I get alot: Q. Lisa, how do I stay positive when I'm in a slump in my sport? A. You don't. In fact, trying to force yourself to feel good in the middle of a slump is a classic mistake. It's a classic mistake because it's going against your nature as a competitive athlete and therefore rarely works.
